Termly Homework

Each week your child will continue to have:

Spellings homework

This may be a spelling related task or a list of spellings to learn. We will also be following a spelling scheme in school time. Spellings will be given out on a Tuesday and will be tested on the following Tuesday.

Multiplication facts

We will be continuing with Times Tables Rocks! across the school this term which is a great online platform to help your children learn their tables. They will have plenty of opportunities to practise in class but can also do so at home.

Guided reading

This will be a set number of pages followed by a written task. This will start in the second week back.

Independent reading

Ideally, children should read on a daily basis. Reading aloud helps them to become fluent, expressive and can help with their comprehension. Whether your child has been reading independently or not, it is very important to discuss and ask
questions about his/her books, as this helps to develop their comprehension skills and deepen their overall understanding.

Maths homework

Set on a Friday. Maths homework may be a piece of consolidation work based on what we’ve been doing in class or could be an investigation. This will start in the second week of term
