Class 1

Welcome to our class page

- here you will find lots of information, letters, photographs and general information about what we have been doing and what we will be doing each half term.

Class 1 is the Early Years base at Marton cum Grafton and has children in the pre-school nursery phase as well our full-time Reception age children. The Reception and Nursery children spend sections of every school day in their ‘home’ classroom so that we can have dedicated sessions appropriate to the specific needs of the group. The children also have lots of opportunities to explore the learning environment together as a whole class and share the experience of playing with, and learning from each other.

Mrs Williams is the Early Years Class Teacher and is in school Monday – Wednesday and Thursday mornings. .

Mrs Naish is our Advanced Teaching Assistant and is lead practitioner in Class 1 on Thursday afternoons and Fridays.

Miss Wilkinson is our Teaching Assistant and Mrs Snowden is our Nursery Assistant.

In Class 1 the other adults you may meet are our Teaching Assistants Mrs Wilson. Mrs Cole and Mr Walkington. On Friday mornings Mrs Taylor comes into school to lead the Early Years children in a PE session.

Our Learning

In Class 1 we like to draw upon the children's interests when planning our learning opportunities. We do, however, have some areas of focus that will be adult initiated.

As the children lead their learning in other directions we adapt planning to make the most of their interests.

The Class 1 children might be found playing in the water, hard at work in our creative workshop or in character in our sheltered role-play area. You might see them dressing up, busy in the writing area or building amazing creations in our construction area. Always busy, we love to play and learn!

Please do look for our Class 1 newsletters in the letters section to find out more about how we spend each week.
